Galileo
I am a great relative of Galileo living in modern day 2009. I have chosen to write about the famous Galileo because of his outstanding work and input to the ‘Renaissance Period’.
Galileo was a physicist and an astronomer during the Renaissance. He lived from 1564-1642, born in Pisa, Italy. He was born into royal status but was not rich.

The law of the pendulum was the first reliable way to keep time. He discovered how the planets revolve around the sun. Stephen Hawkings quoted “Galileo, perhaps more than any other single person, was responsible for the birth of modern science." Because of his work, he gave the ideas for modern Science. He founded the basis of falling bodies, and did extensive work on the motion of the body.

His work was the first to use a basic telescope, with this he discovered the four moons of Jupiter. Galileo helped to promote astronomy during the Renaissance, and lead the new learning of the worlds around us. But Galileo was also involved in physics and his work with the human body. He also dealt with how weight effects objects falling from heights. Although it sounds easy, it was knew knowledge in Galileo’s time. Galileo also discovered the law of the pendulum, which was the first reliable way to keep time.
